The examples use 1×, 2× and 4× Indonesia’s 2025 GDP per person in local currency (83,371,834 IDR, World Bank) as reference salaries. GDP per person is not a wage; it is a neutral, cited yardstick for low, middle and senior pay.
Worked example
For a salary of 167,000,000 IDR a year, the employer adds about 15,720,800 IDR (9.4%) in mandatory contributions, for a total of 182,720,800 IDR, about $11,089 at the 2025 average exchange rate. Because some contributions stop at a ceiling, the effective rate falls from 10.2% at the lowest example salary to 6.8% at the highest, so senior hires cost proportionally less in on-costs.
What is not included
- Work-accident rate is 0.24%–1.74% by risk. PwC gives IDR 12 million as the maximum calculation base; the pension base is updated annually by BPJS.
